At Hunky Dory you’ll find the best in vintage vinyl LPs, local and American made glass and vaporizers and a curated selection of beers on tap. It’s like a head shop, tap room and a record store rolled into one, with Durham tees thrown in for good measure. At Hunky Dory, hand-blown glass is the main attraction and we carry works from many local artists…no cheap import glass here. We also take pride in selling only American-made spoons, bubblers, tubes, rigs, ash catchers and more, and are the Bull City’s main source for quality, high-end vaporizers, both portable and at-home units. In 2019 we introduced our tap room, serving a hop-forward selection a beers you won’t find elsewhere. Stop by for a beer while you shop or just to enjoy during the afternoon or evening.
We take our name from the classic David Bowie album and strive to have the best used selection of vinyl records around. While many stores reserve their goodies for eBay, Hunky Dory saves its gems for its customers. Shop owner Michael Bell, a Raleigh native and vinyl geek, drives thousands of miles each year hunting vinyl. If he’s not in the shop, he’s likely in someone’s dusty shed, dank basement or dirty garage hunting LPs. Speaking of basements, we opened our own bargain basement within Hunky Dory in the summer of 2016. It had been years since anyone had used the space, so you can imagine the dirt and dust build up. But after a lot of sweat equity we are stoked to now have the place for diggers to dig for hours on end. It’s definitely a great place to score some cheap filler copies of popular titles, and you can also score some gems that didn’t make the top floor because of a various flaw or two. No record should be more than $5 in the basement, and there’s a turntable you can sample records as you browse. There’s also a record cleaner that you can feel free to use as well. We also added some Grateful Dead clothing and posters as well as tons more posters from the likes of Pink Floyd, Bowie, Misfits, among many others. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for new arrivals. We put out new vinyl twice weekly and new glass as it comes in. Rest assured there will be new stuff on the shelves every time you come in the store. Introduction: What’s the Best Way to Make Hash at Home? Hash is a collection of the extracted resin glands (trichomes) from a cannabis plant. The effects of hash are typically much stronger than straight cannabis flowers because trichomes contain concentrated amounts of THC, CBD and other cannabinoids. The two most common types of hash made at home may be bubble hash and dry-ice hash. After releasing tutorials on how to make your own Bubble Hash and Dry-Ice Hash, we received quite a few emails on the subject of hash. Everyone seems to love extracts in all forms, but there were two distinct opinions that kept showing up over and over again. The results of making dry ice hash out of an ounce of cannabis. One group feels the dry-ice hash is the only way to go because bubble hash can be time consuming and doesn’t always get great yields. The other group thinks bubble hash has the best potency/effects, and that dry-ice hash is an easy-to-make but less valuable extract. Hash is basically the collection of trichomes from a marijuana plant. Both types of hash are getting judged on certain attributes and we’ll figure out if one really is better than the other! In this experiment, the process of making bubble hash and dry-ice hash will be judged by these criteria: Appearance How pretty does it turn out?
Yield (per ounce of material used) How much extract per ounce of weed? If you’re not familiar with how to make Bubble Hash or Dry-Ice Hash, don’t worry. Here’s the general gist of what you need to know before going any further: Weed/Trim + Cold + Agitation = Hash. There are ways to make hash that don’t involve cold temperatures (like with dry sift, Gumby hash or hand-rolling) and there are ways to make hash without cold temps or agitation (a rosin press uses pressure and heat), but Bubble Hash and Dry-Ice Hash both use the (cold + agitation) formula to create their respective end products. If you want to learn how to make these types of hash before continuing, check out the following links for the complete tutorials: Differences Between the Types of Hash. There are minor differences in the way they’re made, but these solventless extracts are very similar. Bubble Hash requires you to combine some weed/trim with freezing cold water.
The super-cold mixture is then agitated which causes the resin (good stuff) to fall off the weed and into the cold water.
