Whether you’re a seasoned stoner or newcomer to the world of cannabis, the fact remains the same: glass is an integral part of the consumption experience. It is one of the best, most commonly used materials for smoking out of, and glass pipes range from small and simple handheld pieces to huge, wildly intricate artistic creations, and everything in between.

What makes glass such a perfect medium for smoking cannabis? What are the different types of glass you’ll find on the market today, and which ones are the best for you? Here’s everything you need to know about glass, helping you to become a cannabis glass connoisseur the next time you visit your local head shop.

Why glass?

The primary reason glass is used for smoking cannabis is that it is a very clean material. To be more specific, when you heat a piece of clean glass, the only thing that really happens is the glass gets hotter. It doesn’t begin to smoke or vaporize, it doesn’t create toxic fumes, and it doesn’t emit odors or flavors. This makes glass perfectly suited for smoking cannabis flower and concentrates.

On the other hand, pipes made out of materials such as metal, plastic, or wood usually end up contaminating the cannabis smoke in one way or another, whether it’s changing the taste of the smoke, altering the odor of the smoke, or worst of all, emitting toxic fumes into the smoke.

Aside from maintaining the purity of the cannabis smoke, there’s an added bonus to using glass: style.

Glassblowers often mix in color pigments to create interesting patterns, adding artistic flair to the smoking experience. Artists who specialize in high-end glass pipes also make large, elaborate pipes in a dizzying array of shapes, sizes, and designs.

Main types of glass pipes on the market today

Glass is used to make a wide variety of smoking devices. The most common are:

Spoons

Spoons are widely used and are recognizable for their simple design. One end is a spoon-shaped bowl into which you pack your cannabis. There is a small hole at the bottom of the bowl that allows smoke to travel from the spoon end down into the body of the pipe. Somewhere adjacent to the bowl is another small hole, called a “carb.” You control airflow inside the pipe by covering or uncovering the carb with your finger. Finally, the body of the pipe extends out away from the bowl and carb, ending in a third opening, which is the mouthpiece.

Bongs

Bongs are defined by the inclusion of a water chamber. As smoke bubbles through the chamber, the water simultaneously cools the smoke and filters out heavy particulates, producing smoother, cooler, and all-around better-tasting smoke.

Bubblers

Bubblers are essentially a mash-up of a spoon pipe and a petite-sized bong. In shape and function, they are just like a spoon pipe. They also include a small water chamber that cools and cleans the smoke. For many consumers, bubblers produce more enjoyable smoke the way a bong does, but with the smaller, more convenient size that a spoon offers.

Chillums

Glass chillums can essentially be described as a small cylinder of glass you can smoke out of. You pack one end of the cylinder with flower, ignite it, and pull the smoke through the other end of the cylinder.

Steamrollers

Steamrollers are basically extra-large chillums that often include a small depression for packing cannabis, a carb for controlling airflow, and a much larger-diameter glass cylinder. The idea is to let you fill the pipe with tons of smoke before clearing it all at one time for a powerful punch of cannabis smoke.

Dab rigs

Dab rigs typically use the same water filtration system as a bong, but they include a number of additional features and components designed specifically for vaporizing super-potent cannabis concentrates at higher temperatures than those for smoking flower. Instead of a bowl, for instance, a dab rig typically utilizes a nail or banger made from glass, quartz, or titanium. Once the heated chamber reaches the desired temperature, the concentrate is dabbed and filtered through water before being consumed.

Glass made in U.S. vs glass made in China

A common debate in the world of cannabis is whether glass pieces made in the United States are fundamentally different from or of better quality than glass pieces made in places such as China.

One camp maintains that mass-produced Chinese glass is inherently inferior to American glass. According to this perspective, because Chinese glass is mass-produced and is intended to be much more affordable, manufacturers cut corners and don’t create products with as much care or quality assurance as manufacturers in the U.S.

As seen on numerous online discussion boards and cannabis forums, common complaints about Chinese-made glass include:

  • Lower-quality glass
  • Thinner glass
  • Glass that is not carefully hardened through a process called annealing, thereby making it more susceptible to stress fractures and breaking
  • Unoriginal designs, with many claiming that Chinese glass manufacturers essentially rip off designs created by smaller glassmakers and then mass-produce them

Another camp tends to be much more open to glass pieces made in China. In general, this cohort sees the quality of Chinese glass as close enough to the quality of any other glass that it doesn’t really make a noticeable difference.

Further, this group often argues that because Chinese pieces are mass-produced for lower cost, they actually serve a valuable function within the cannabis industry, giving people access to very affordable smoking implements. For many, this affordability outweighs whatever drop in quality consumers might get with a piece made in China.

As expert glassblower Luke Wilson put it: “The only difference is [Chinese manufacturers] take everything they make from other people and make it a million times over. . There’s nothing wrong with China glass as far as I’m concerned. So if you need a high-filter piece for your money, then go buy a China piece. But if you want something that’s collectible and that you’ll appreciate, go buy a personal artist piece.”

Scientific glass vs. artisan glass

The other key distinction in the types of glass used for cannabis pipes is if it’s made from scientific glass or artisan glass.

According to The American Scientific Glassblowers Society, scientific glass is specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands and specifications of the scientific community. Per the Society’s website: “Scientific glassblowers provide highly specialized glass apparatus for all universities with graduate research programs, government, private, and industry-research laboratories, production facilities, the semiconductor industry, and many other aspects of scientific research.”

Scientific glass is primarily focused on function, precision, and consistency. And smoking devices made out of scientific glass are much the same. These pieces tend to use thicker glass, are typically more heat-resistant, and have minimal issues with stress fractures or other manufacturing defects.

Scientific glass pipes are primarily focused on function rather than style. As a result, they typically do not have a lot of color or decorations, and the designs are simple and minimal, more in line with something you’d expect to see in a research lab than a stoner’s dorm room. One big advantage of focusing on function is that many scientific glass pipes include high-performance percolators that require a high degree of precision to make well.

On the other hand, artisan glass — often called “heady glass” — is focused much more on design and style elements. Artisan pieces are often one of a kind, made by established artists with recognizable aesthetic styles and a cult following of high-end glass collectors. As such, these pieces can be very fun to smoke out of and many enjoy the sense that their pipe is more aligned with a piece of art than a smoking apparatus.

The process of adding colors, crafting pipes into funky shapes, and executing complex designs often requires artists to use a slightly “softer” glass than a scientific glass piece. Additionally, the exclusive nature of artisan pieces often means that they carry heftier price tags than scientific glass pieces.

Choosing the glass that’s right for you

There are three main factors to consider when buying a glass piece:

What type of smoking experience do you want?

Do you want to smoke out of a simple spoon or chillum? Are you interested in the cooler, smoother, better-tasting smoke of a bong or bubbler? Do you want the hard-hitting, massive hits of a steamroller? Answering these questions will help narrow down the types of glass smoking devices that fit your personal criteria.

Form or function?

If you want consistently high-quality, precision performance, you can’t go wrong with a scientific glass piece. If you’re all about personal style, creativity, and flair, then you’ll love exploring the world of artisan glass. And remember, function and style are not mutually exclusive. Many people who like minimalist designs find scientific glass to be very aesthetically appealing.

What’s your budget?

If you’re on a tight budget and you simply need a piece that will get the job done, you might want to experiment with an affordable piece made in China. Don’t be surprised if you run into problems or if the piece breaks — at least replacing it won’t be too expensive. But if your budget gives you more room to shop around, have fun exploring the diversity of glass pieces made in the US by more hands-on glassblowers and artisans.

Choosing the Right Type of Glass Pipe To Fit Your Personality

With so many types of glass pipes, how do you choose? Read our breakdown below and choose wisely.

Remember: your pipe is a reflection of who you are.

TL;DR

  • Chillums and one-hitters are simple.
  • Bowls or Spoons are a necessity.
  • Bongs, Bubblers and Sherlocks deliver massive hits.
  • Metal pipes – not so much.
  • Rolling Papers are fine, but you need skills.
  • Every glass pipe matches a personality type.

A Little Bit of History

When it comes to delivering a surreal session and an optimum drag we know how every seasonal smoker has their very own special formula of herb and pipe combo.

Pipes have been around in one form or another or the longest time, smoking in general for even longer. And one indispensable part of every smoker’s kit is the perfect pipe. Pipes for smoking are usually manufactured using a host of materials like metal, certain kinds of wood, glass, corn cob, etc. Ask any regular smoker and they will tell you that glass smoking pipes are the only worthwhile kind.

They come in different shapes and types. Each type is best suited for specific uses and quantities of product and each has distinct advantages.

Glass pipes most likely evolved along with the art of glassblowing and glassmaking technology. They were initially attractive to smokers, purely for their intrinsic artistic value but then people came around for utilitarian reasons- realizing that smoking with a glass pipe produces a flavor that is unmatched by any other material.

In fact, it really isn’t the flavor so much as the lack of flavor that smokers are lured in by. Purveyors of the lifestyle today tend to select unique glass weed pipes that are symbolic of who they are.

Dabbing requires a specific type of “oil rig” that is capable of incredible amounts of heat, while vaping focuses on using the lowest temperatures possible for delivery. Neither of these topics will be touched on here today, but check the blog for on those items.

In the middle of the spectrum are traditional weed smoking pipes and rolling papers.

There’s a glass pipe for every smoker and while you may not have the time to experiment in order to find the right setup for that perfect smoking experience, we are here to help as we have compiled the best glass pipes of 2020.

Types of Glass Pipes

Broadly speaking, glass pipes come in different shapes and types. Here are some of the best smoking pipes that we like:

Chillums or One Hitter Pipes

They are the most basic type of smoke pipes and are shaped like tubes and can be called a chillum or a one hitter. They are small and simple. Users pack smoking material on one end and apply flame and inhale.

They are the quintessential discreet piece for all the smokers on the go. They are small but they can feature intricate, gorgeous designs.

Due to their small size, these glass weed pipes are able to take very small amounts of dry herbs. They also lack a carb, so the smoke flavor is not prevented from becoming stale. Learning how to clean a one hitter is simple and even you don’t feel like cleaning your chillum, they are economical enough to just throw it away and get a new glass pipe.

Sherlock Pipes

Of all the different types of smoking devices, the glass sherlock pipes, or Gandalf pipes, are now the most iconic owing to their arched stem. If you have seen Sherlock Holmes’ favorite pipe, you already know what this is.

Many artisan sherlocks are made from glass, even though most of them are made from wood. The classic sherlock pipe has a gracefully arching stem and a large bowl used to heat it, with a bottom which is often flattened, to let the pipe stand freely when not being held.

Gandalf pipes have a relatively elongated stem but are otherwise similar. They may or may not have a carb, because these pipes were never designed with a carb as a standard requirement. They tend to produce unfiltered smoke which can be pretty strong, because of the resins and tars that has accumulated with use of the pipe.

Spoon Pipes or Bowls

This is the essential piece of glass in every smoker’s collection. Being that it is an essential, we offer this free glasspipe from Me Time Box Products. Keep reading below to learn why you need one.

They are usually very similar in shape and construction to the chillums, and are the most popular types of weed pipes. However, one major point of difference being they have a “bowl” (the bowl has an indentation like a spoon, hence the name) at one end where you can deposit whatever you are smoking and they do have a carburetor which is nothing but a small hole in the tube.

The process of smoking entails covering the hole with a finger to draw in air through the bowl, then uncovering the same hole to inhale. This ensures the smoke remains fresh, and lets you control the airflow through the stem which gives you bigger and better hits. In general, the carb is why glass bowl pipes are highly preferred among smoking circles.

Glass Bubblers

Glass Bubbler pipes are a hybrid of the bong and a glass pipe. It uses water like a bong, but is really small like a glass pipe which is why sometimes they are referred to as glass water pipes.

They have a chamber, a stem, carb and a bottom base. The water in the pipe acts as a filter for the smoke which diffuses the smoke before it is inhaled and creates tiny bubbles. This results in a highly filtered, smooth flavor devoid of any of the substances, harsher resinated smoke or any debris being inhaled.

The water temperature can have a huge impact on the flavor and the overall experience and as such bubblers can be used with either hot or cold water.

Some bubblers can go so far to include the use of ice. The intensely cold smoke produced is much denser compared to smoke produced from simply cold water, and when inhaled it warms and expands. Some consider bubblers to be the best pipes for smoking weed.

Steamroller Pipes

These are highly complex but the most efficient for a monster hit. Steamroller pipes have a bowl attached to a tube. There is an opening at each end of the pipe. The one nearest the bowl is the carburetor. Some variations may have an extra chamber that rolls the smoke to facilitate fast cooling.

The steamroller is known for delivering extremely powerful, fast and intense hits. They are most definitely not recommended for less experienced, or first time users, because they take a lot of practice to completely get used to, but are some of the best pipes for weed.

Bongs

They are the most basic kind of water pipes that most people are familiar with. They can have complex, beautiful and intricate designs that include multiple percolators and they can be very simple with a straight tube chamber. They can be pricey but are definitely worth it being the most convenient and best smoking device.

Glass pipes versus metal pipes

While some people prefer the old school metal pipes others love the unadulterated taste that glass bowl pipes are known to deliver. An advantage of getting a metal pipe beside the inexpensive price tag is its resilience and durability.

Metal bowls can put off toxins that are unhealthy for human consumption. Glass, the best smoking bowls, easily eliminate these and are relatively easier to clean. All you need is a little alcohol and salt, but if you get stuck, feel free to check out our guide on how to clean a glass pipe.

Nothing can ruin the taste of good herbs like a bowl that is rarely cleaned. With all the delectable strains available today, it is understandable if you, a true lover of weed, wish to refrain from metal pipes (we do too).

Glass Pipes versus Wood Pipes

Wood pipes are making an appearance in the cannabis world with their earthy, rustic, outdoorsy feel. Most smokers tend to use them for their overall feel and character and not functionality.

More often than not, they alter the flavor of your smoke. It is also very difficult to clean since wood cannot be soaked in any cleaning solution without the potential of the wood molding or getting completely destroyed. They are the least practical and, in our opinion, are used just for novelty or aesthetics.

Glass Pipes versus Rolling Paper

The one advantage of glass smoking bowls is that they are relatively easy to smoke out of, but can be a little high maintenance in comparison to rolling one up, then smoking it down.

Although it takes a little bit of skill to roll a decent blunt or joint, you roll all the evidence up, easily take them on the go, and smoke when you feel like it until it is completely gone. However, they are far less efficient on the bud.

Bongs and pipes cool down the smoke considerably and provide a smoother, better hit of the herbs.

It doesn’t mean that you can’t roll one up every now and then, which is why we have this fancy RAW rolling bundle for the rollers out there.

Wrapping Up

In terms of unique glass smoking pipes for the healthy smoker, glass bongs and glass water pipes have been the go-to delivery system for centuries. The water in a bubbler or a bong filters out the large particles from the smoke and cools it down as well.

Then there are the creative and artistic smokers that seek out the most unique glass pipes out there. They, like animal glass pipes, or artisan chillums and often have an exhaustive selection of glass smoking pipes in their collection.

The creative types often gravitate towards sativas, while the people who need to find more time to chill seem to like indicas. One thing for sure is that no matter what you prefer for strains, most smokers will also have at least one or two hand-blown glass smoking pipes that are full of swirls, colors and glass marbles, that stimulate their visual senses.

If you take a look into a aficionado’s happy kit for smoking essentials, you might find a menagerie of creative glass pipes that they select from depending on their mood at any moment.

Next time you check out a smoker’s pipe collection, take a step back and think about the types of glass pipes they use. You may find that you are discovering a lot more about that person, compared to what you thought you knew about them when you shook their hand.

If you missed that link up there, don’t forget that we are the home for a free glass pipe, just pay shipping with no strings attached.

We hope that whatever you personality is, that you pick a glass piece that is unique to you.

Nutmeg Treated as Drug for Hallucinogenic High

Poison centers see an upswing in teens taking nutmeg for a hallucinogenic high.

K-2 Herb Pulled Off Store Shelves

Dec. 9, 2010— — A sprinkle of nutmeg in eggnog or a pinch in apple pie can add the perfect punch to a holiday dessert. But winter’s favorite spice has also made headlines as an unconventional way of getting high — it’s called a nutmeg high.

Nutmeg contains myristicin, a natural compound that has mind-altering effects if ingested in large doses. The buzz can last one to two days and can be hallucinogenic, much like LSD.

According to reports this week from the ABC affiliate WPLG in Miami, the Florida Poison Information Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital has recently seen a small spike in phone calls reporting people who snorted, smoked or ate the spice.

“It’s the flavor of the month,” said Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein, medical director at the center. “But most people only try it once because they have such nasty side effects. The rewards are not worth the risks.”

Nasty Side Effects

About 30 minutes to an hour after taking large doses of nutmeg, people usually have severe gastrointestinal reactions, including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. But that’s just the beginning. Hours into the high, people can suffer from heart and nerve problems as well.

“This is where people have to be really alert,” said Gaylord Lopez, director of the Georgia Poison Center in Atlanta. “A person who has an unrecognized heart ailment could have problems that could lead to irregular rhythms. One plus one can add up to nine really quickly.”

Visual, auditory or sensory hallucinations do not set in until hours after ingesting the spice, so there is also the worry that someone could overdose, thinking they haven’t taken enough to feel anything.

Dr. Marcel Casavant, medical director of the Central Ohio Poison Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, said that it is fairly common for teenagers to experiment with household products to get high. And the results can be devastating.

Danger Drugs in the Home

Household goods, including nutmeg, magic markers and whipped cream cans can cause seizures, cardiac damage and even something called sudden sniffing death syndrome.

Casavant described the syndrome: “One minute, they’re alive and abusing the product and in the next, they’ve dropped dead.”

“The most common story I hear in these cases is that the person gets scared or spooked [while on the drug],” said Casavant. “For most people, there is a small increase in the heart beat, but for these folks on these drugs, their heart beats uncontrollably fast and they die.”

According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, so far there have been 67 cases of nutmeg exposure in 2010.

To put the numbers in perspective, there have been nearly 5,000 marijuana phone calls counted by the AAPCC this year.

The AAPCC said the most common drugs treated by poison center are legal and illegal pharmaceuticals, including opioids and analgesic drugs.

Bernard Sangalli, director of the Connecticut Poison Control Centers, said that, though fairly uncommon, nutmeg abuse is periodically rediscovered.

“We’ll see cases like clusters with nutmeg,” said Sangalli. “As people share their experiences on the Internet, we see more and more clustering of those events.”

Nutmeg intoxication epidemics were seen in the early 1900s, and a small resurgence was seen in the mid-1960s.

Now, many doctors say the Internet has played a large role in its most recent, albeit small, upswing.

“Now, people are tweeting and YouTubing, and the information travels faster than the speed of light,” said Lopez. “These are the kind of stories that get out quicker than you blink twice.”

Bernstein noted the spice’s recent publicity, and said the media can play a part in bringing attention to these experimental drugs.

“Like most drugs of abuse, they all have a cycle and all go in and out of being popular,” said Bernstein. “Primarily this is a young person’s drug of abuse because it’s cheap and accessible and, for the most part, legal.”

Nutmeg and the DEA

Currently, the FDA has no plans to regulate the spice.

For a substance to be controlled or illegal, the Drug Enforcement Administration considers certain factors, including impact, pattern of use, and potency of the drug.

Among the factors, the DEA writes: In evaluating existing abuse, the DEA Administrator must know not only the pattern of abuse, but whether the abuse is widespread. In reaching a decision, the Administrator considers the economics of regulation and enforcement attendant to such a decision.

Because the side effects are so wretched, and because one has to ingest so much of the spice to get a high, doctors said that those who try the spice usually do not try it again. Because of this, controlling the spice would not see great benefits.

A Parental Heads-Up

But doctors said parents should be aware of household items that can be used to get high, including nutmeg, aerosol cans, magic markers and computer dusting products.

“It’s difficult for us to monitor our teenagers in the few hours that we see them,” said Lopez. “We don’t know what they’re doing all the time, so it’s important to watch for the kind of behaviors that raise red flags.”

If a child suddenly becomes withdrawn or segregates himself from the group, Lopez said these behavioral problems deserve attention.

“It’s important for parents to be aware to put this stuff away and keep an eye on their kids,” said Lopez. “Because really, who’s going to expect that little Mary or Johnnie saw something like this on YouTube and think, ‘oh nutmeg can make me high, I should try that.'”

If you or someone you know has poison or drug concerns, call the Poison Control Center telephone number at 1-800-222-1222 to connect to your local poison center. People can remain anonymous when walking into the center, calling or doing a live chat.

Poison control centers have recently received a handful of phone calls reporting abuse by snorting, smoking, or eating nutmeg, which, in large doses, causes a hallucinogenic high.

Can You Get High on Nutmeg? Why This Isn’t a Good Idea

Nutmeg, also known as Myristica fragrans, is a common cooking spice known for its warm flavor and sweet taste.

Indonesia is home to the nutmeg tree. This tree grows a fruit that holds the nutmeg seed. After harvesting the fruit, the seed can be dried for a period of weeks. This dried nut can then be used to create the spice we know so well.

The most popular culinary uses of nutmeg include:

  • baked goods such as puddings and pies
  • savory dishes and sauces
  • classic drinks like eggnog

You may also have come across rumors that nutmeg can get you high. While this may be true, there’s more to the story.

Let’s explore the science behind the cause of the “nutmeg high,” as well as the risks associated with using this spice recreationally.

The chemical responsible for the “high” caused by nutmeg is known as myristicin. Myristicin is a compound found naturally in the essential oils of certain plants, such as parsley, dill, and nutmeg.

Myristicin is also found in different spices. It comprises most of the chemical makeup of nutmeg oil and is found in the largest amounts in this spice. In the human body, the breakdown of myristicin produces a compound that affects the sympathetic nervous system.

Peyote is another well-known plant whose compound, mescaline, acts in a similar way to the myristicin in nutmeg. Both mescaline and myristicin affect the central nervous system (CNS) by enhancing the neurotransmitter norepinephrine.

This effect on the CNS is what eventually leads to side effects such as hallucinations, dizziness, nausea, and more.

Research on nutmeg intoxication is sparse. But there are a handful of studies and case reports on some of the dangerous side effects of consuming too much myristicin.

The first claims of nutmeg “intoxication” date back to the 1500s, after a pregnant woman had eaten more than 10 nutmeg nuts. It wasn’t until the 19th century that research began to investigate the effects of myristicin from nutmeg on the CNS.

In one case report, an 18-year-old female complained of nausea, dizziness, heart palpitations, and dry mouth, among other symptoms. Although she didn’t report any hallucinations, she did mention feeling as if she was in a trance-like state.

It was later revealed that she had consumed almost 50 grams (g) of nutmeg in the form of a milkshake roughly 30 minutes before her symptoms began.

In a much more recent case study, a 37-year-old female found herself experiencing the symptoms of myristicin intoxication after consuming only two teaspoons (roughly 10 grams) of nutmeg. Her symptoms also included dizziness, confusion, grogginess, and an extremely dry mouth.

In both case studies, the symptoms occurred within hours and lingered for roughly 10 hours. Both individuals were released after observation and made a full recovery.

Although these cases seem rare, a review of the literature from the Illinois Poison Center over a 10-year period revealed over 30 documented cases of nutmeg poisoning. An analysis of the data investigated both intentional and unintentional exposures, as well as drug interactions leading to toxicity.

The investigation revealed that almost 50 percent of the cases were intentional, with only 17 being unintentional exposures. The largest group of people who were unintentionally exposed to nutmeg intoxication were minors under the age of 13.

The most common symptoms in the 10-year review included:

  • hallucinations
  • drowsiness
  • dizziness
  • dry mouth
  • confusion
  • seizure (in two cases)

Some of the other notable side effects were respiratory, cardiovascular, and gastric distress.

While nutmeg may seem like an easy way to experiment with getting high, myristicin is an incredibly potent and dangerous compound when taken in large amounts.

In addition to the short-term effects of nutmeg intoxication, there are much more dangerous risks of consuming too much of this spice. In some cases, toxic doses of myristicin have caused organ failure. In other cases, nutmeg overdose has been linked to death when used in combination with other drugs.

Small amounts of nutmeg can be used safely in cooking. Most recipes only call for roughly 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg per recipe. These recipes are often split into multiple portions, leaving the actual exposure to nutmeg very insignificant.

According to the case studies from the Illinois Poison Center, even 10 grams (approximately 2 teaspoons) of nutmeg is enough to cause symptoms of toxicity. At doses of 50 grams or more, those symptoms become more severe.

Like any other drugs, the dangers of nutmeg overdose can occur no matter the method of delivery. According to the University of Utah’s drug delivery resource, the different methods of ingestion can affect how quickly it takes for the active compounds to reach the brain.

Inhalation, or smoking, is one of the fastest methods of delivery. Injecting a drug directly into a vein is the second fastest. The slowest method of delivery for a drug or compound is through ingesting the substance orally.

Because of this, the dangers of myristicin consumption become that much more likely for those who choose to use alternate methods of delivery, such as inhaling or injecting.

Nutmeg is used to enhance delicious fall dishes like holiday pies and stews. However, there’s been a recent trend spreading on the internet that you can also get high on nutmeg. While this may be true, ingesting more nutmeg than is found in your typical eggnog has definite risks. We’ll tell you what you need to know.

The Top 5 Rolling Papers of 2020

The process of rolling up a joint, spliff or blunt is one of the most universally recognized acts across the world of cannabis. Short of the ubiquitous pipe, rolling papers are the most utilized smoking method when it comes to enjoying cannabis, and the quality of the rolling paper is critical to the enjoyment of the joint. Traditionally, papers have been made from wood pulp, but recently natural rolling papers made from healthier and more sustainable products such as hemp, rice and flax have entered the marketplace. Wood paper tends to burn the quickest, rice paper the slowest and hemp burns at a fairly moderate rate. The novelty market has also taken off, with luxury rolling papers made of gold catching the eye of those who want to roll a spliff that sparkles. What are the best papers to roll with at the moment? Check out the list below for Where’s Weed’s Best Rolling Papers for 2020.

5. Zig-Zag Unbleached King Slim

The iconic Zig-Zag label kicks off our list with its classic Unbleached King Slim. Legend has it that back in 1879 a bullet broke the pipe of a French soldier and he improvised by tearing a piece of paper from his sack of gunpowder to use to roll his tobacco. A few years later Maurice and Jacques Braunstein took the rolling paper idea to the next level in their Paris shop by inventing a package that allowed single sheets to be dispensed one at a time. The “Z” shape that the papers make when pulled from the package prompted them to call their new product “Zig-Zag” and the rest is history. Natural flax fibers and the absence of any bleach or chemicals mean nothing gets between you and your favorite strain.

4. Smoking Master 1 1/4

The Miquel Family has been making paper in Spain since the 18 th Century, producing rolling papers since the late 1800s and offering its elite Smoking Brand rolling papers to happy customers since 1924. Smoking Masters are now produced in Catalonia and are FSC certified which means that your joint will burn with pulp from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Sealed with 100% natural vegetable gum, these papers provide a surprisingly slow and smooth burn.

3. Natural Mystic Organic Hemp King-Sized Pre-Rolled Cones

Natural Mystic might not be the most well-known brand out there, but this tiny company based in Texas makes some of the best papers for joints and some of the best hemp rolling papers available. The pre-rolled cones are all rolled by hand and feature 100% unbleached fibers to create a brown organic hemp paper that provides an impressively controlled burn rate and a pure taste. The single gumline keeps the cones from unravelling when they are being filled and makes it simple to get your spliff ready if you’re not a skilled roller. All of Natural Mystic’s products are GMO free and Vegan friendly so you know you’ll be smoking some of the healthiest rolling papers on the planet.

2. RAW Classic 1 1/4

RAW papers have set the standard of quality for well over a century and are quite simply some of the best rolling papers for weed that you can find. Founded in the Alcoy region of Spain where the rolling paper booklet was first invented, RAW has since expanded its empire across the globe but continues to produce top-quality and earth-friendly merchandise. And while all of their products deserve recognition, we’re going to choose the Classic 1.25″ version to spotlight here. The natural sheets that create these stalwarts are made from unrefined plants and use organic tree sap to seal joints securely with ease. RAW Classics can be found in all sorts of shops across the country and are an excellent paper to have on hand when the need to roll one up arises.

1. Elements 1 1/4 Ultra-Thin Rice Rolling Papers

Some of the slowest burning rolling papers on the market, these fine rice papers utilize a sugar gum that yields an attractive and slightly sweet burn that won’t interfere with the tastiness of the terpenes in your weed. The pure rice used in the papers results in a smooth burn with little to no ash and the crisscross watermark prevents runs and irregularities. The tiny magnetic closure device in the packaging is genius; it keeps the papers from getting torn, wrinkled or smashed. Made utilizing wind power in Northern Spain, Elements produces some of the best weed rolling paper in the world.

The Best Rolling Papers for Joints

Joint rollers, this list will come in handy.

Prerolls are great and all , but I love rolling joints. There is a great joy in rolling a good joint for the sesh. And papers are the mechanism that delivers your weed, which makes them important. This list is an ode to the joint papers that make our smoking sessions great.

I have personally tried every single one of these brands listed below. Some, I have known like close friends, historic brands with lineage over 100 years. Others are the new papers on the block that should be tried at least once.

From the very affordable to the very fancy, here are 10 of the best rolling papers for weed:

Juicy Jays

Colorful, fruity Juicy Jays are made out of hemp fiber and are beloved by many. The popular 1 ¼ inch papers are adored by smokers who seek to match a flavor profile with the natural terpenes in their cannabis . I have found they taste strongest on my tongue right after I roll it, or just after I lick my lips after hitting the joint, and not necessarily in the smoke itself. Favorite flavors of mine include Sticky Candy, Pineapple, White Grape, Peanut Butter, Peaches & Cream, and Wham Bam Watermelon.

Blazy Susan’s Pink Rolling Papers

The pink papers you have been seeing all over Instagram? The cannabis accessory company Blazy Susan coined them. These are vegan, non-GMO, and made with organic pink pigments in a factory in France. Some may consider these girly, but joints made with Blazy Susan’s rolling papers are quite simply a stunning way to smoke. Most importantly, they offer function alongside their cute aesthetic form by burning slow and evenly and tasting super light.

OCB

If you like good rolls with an air of sophistication, then the French-made OCB papers are perfect for you. Founded in 1918 (yep, we been rolling that long), OCB — which stands for Odet, Cascedec, Bollore — is sold on six continents.

Today, it’s just a super chic, thin paper most cannabis consumers know for their holographic-reflective accents. The flax plant fiber paper themselves are so thin, they are transparent, and include an adhesive strip of Arabic gum that is vegetarian and non-GMP. Most OCB packs of papers come with 32 leaves and 32 perforated tips attached so you can roll a crutch for every joint.

Raw

Founded in 1995, Raw papers are produced in Alcoy, Spain, a town for which the history of paper production is attributed, dating back to the 1600s. People love RAW papers because they have no added chalk, dyes, or additives. The lineup of Raw papers , according to the website, are made of just plants and plant starch, are vegan, non-GMO, chlorine-free, gluten-free, made using windmill power, and with a special criss-cross watermark that helps them smoke more evenly.

One thing we love? The paper packs and cones come in quite literally every size imaginable, including extra-long “RAW Classic Challenge Con” that is 2 feet long (600 mm). The company has done its share of special collaborations and artist series including a line with Wiz Khalifa, Clipper lighters, B-Real’s Phunky Feel glass tips.

Pure Hemp

Pure Hemp is as classic and minimalist as its name implies. Made in Barcelona, Spain, by a 125-year-old Spanish paper company Miquel y Costas Miquel S.A., these rolling papers put “earth’s oldest crop,” hemp, on a pedestal. These papers are thick to the touch, making them a bit easier to roll, but burn even and clean. Beloved Pure Hemp packs also have a clever “last 5” warning strips with a little cartoon dude. Try them for yourself to see.

Elements

Elements , as its name implies, is obsessed with earth-friendly materials and green energy in making its papers. Made with sugar gum for its adhesive, these sweet packs come with perforated crutches for rolling, and the paper itself is made out of rice, making them almost completely translucent. To be even more eco-friendly, the papers production facility in the Spanish region of Alcoy (the birthplace of rolling papers) is entirely wind-powered.

Elements are also uniquely dope for its “perfect fold” engineering , as well as its watermark which is in a criss-cross shape, meant to prevent runs and allow for a smoother burn. One last plus: their packs are great for throwing in your pocket because of their magnetic closing mechanism.

Randy’s

Ah, Randy’s , the original wired joint papers. Founded in 1975 in San Francisco, these bad boys are an engineering marvel, so simple yet so extraordinarily easy to use. And they smoke well, too. The classic ”Randy’s Wire” is made out of 100% steel made in America, which gradually bends and folds over as you smoke the joint. About halfway through, the wire becomes a joint holder that enables you to finish the rest of the j with ease, even when it gets teeny-tiny.

Lift Tickets

These are the only paper on the list that you need to purchase in a dispensary because they are finely coated with cannabis concentrate. Lift Tickets are sticky but surprisingly easy to roll, because the added layer of stickiness helps cohese all the ground-up cannabis together. Strains that the 5-pack of Lift Ticket papers come in are terpene-infused varieties like indica Larry OG, the concentrates produced by cannabis company LoudPack . Only available in California, these papers are one of the best flavored rolling papers around.

Zig-Zag

People have been rolling these babies for 130 years. A Zig-Zag pack looks and feels like an old, familiar friend. They are one of the most widely-accessible (they’re available over the counter is most convenient and grocery stores) and popular rolling papers in the world. The slow-burning orange pack is a go-to for cannabis consumers to roll with.

Other Zig-Zag options today include their unbleached and organic hemp papers. At 32 papers per pack, they are going to be one of the most affordable rolling papers on the list. The man on its cover, a 19th-century French soldier and mythic rolling paper innovator Le Zouave, is a countercultural icon.

“80 Benny” Papers from Empire Rolling

These are a cool party trick. Smoking benjamins has never been easier, thanks to the $100 bill papers from Empire Rolling. Their “80 Benny” papers are colorful and look exactly like a modern $100 bill, Ben Franklin smirking-and-all. The 80 Bennys are made with natural plant fibers, non-toxic vegetable oil coloring, and organic sugar glue. Their “wallet” packs have 20 perforated filter crutches in them for your rolling convenience. They are thick and make for a tougher roll, but super worthwhile to make your friends think you are a baller smoking tiny Benjamins.

How to Roll the Perfect Joint

Apprehensive about rolling a joint? Have no fear; our concise step-by-step guide will teach you exactly what to do, with tips, tools, and recommendations to make the process easier.

For maximum enjoyment of a prime strain of cannabis, knowing how to roll the perfect joint is key. For a smooth smoke, it should have a shape that allows it to burn evenly. Rolling a good one takes skill, but we will gladly show you how to get the hang of it. Additionally, we have some useful recommendations for rolling papers and tools to make it easier. By following our step-by-step guide below, you will master the art of rolling joints in no time.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO ROLL A JOINT

Before we get started with the instructions, here’s a list of what you’ll need:

• Your favourite strain of weed
• Rolling papers
• Crutch/filter
• Pen or similar object, to pack the joint
• Grinder
• Rolling tray

STEP 1: BREAK UP YOUR MARIJUANA

If you are using high-grade cannabis such as ours, simply feeling it between your fingers will begin to release its sweet smell. Although you could go at it with your hands, we recommend breaking your bud up into a suitable size using a quality grinder. This method saves time, plus it will prevent your fingers from getting too sticky to roll the paper later. You want to render your bud down into small particles, but not into dust. This will allow for optimal airflow and burn rate.

STEP 2: CREATE A CRUTCH FOR THE JOINT

A crutch is basically a mouthpiece for your joint, also referred to as a filter or tip. Some smokers may say a crutch is unnecessary or optional, but we strongly recommend it. A crutch:

• assures the end of the joint remains open
• prevents you from burning your fingers or lips while smoking
• prevents anything from falling out of the joint
• keeps the shape of the joint sturdy
• makes smoking easier by increasing airflow through the joint

You can make crutches out of thick paper or thin cardboard, like most business cards are made of. For long rolling papers, a piece of approximately 5.5 x 1.7cm will suffice. You can also buy special crutch paper, and many rolling papers already come with some.

While a lot of people simply roll the crutch paper into a cylinder, this method leaves a hole that might let weed fall through or get pinched closed while smoking. Therefore, it’s better to make a few accordion folds at one end before rolling the rest completely around it. Make as many folds as you want the width of the final crutch to be.

STEP 3: FILL UP YOUR JOINT

There are many types of rolling papers—have your pick. We recommend our organic hemp papers because they’re thin yet sturdy, assuring your joint burns evenly and the aroma of your strain is unaffected. Moreover, they come with filter papers as well.

Take out your rolling paper and hold it so the glue side is facing your feet and the fold is in your direct sight. Fold the paper gently in the opposite direction and roll it between your fingers gingerly until it retains the shape you need.

Place the cannabis in your paper with one hand, distributing it in such a way that there is less at the end where the crutch is going to be. You want to end up with a cone-shaped joint later. Straight joints are easier to roll, so for your first attempts, this is fine too. Ultimately, a cone-shaped joint will offer a way smoother smoke.

STEP 4: ROLL YOUR JOINT

Holding your paper containing the cannabis, start rolling it gently as you move your fingers from left to right to distribute the particles evenly. Insert your crutch from Step 2 into one end of the paper and then get to rolling. Make sure your fingers are near the filter. The closer together they are, the better.

Roll the paper back and forth to ensure the edge of the paper crosses over the crutch. You’re on your way to the perfect joint now! To make things easier, you can use our handy wooden rolling tray. It’s the perfect size for rolling joints and will catch any cannabis that might fall out. This way, you won’t need a table as you can just sit the tray on your lap.

STEP 5: LICK AND SEAL YOUR JOINT

Once you’ve rolled back and forth enough for the shape of the joint to appear, it’s time to close and seal it. Continue rolling between your fingers until the paper is pulled tight and the edge can be easily folded in with the tip. Roll until the glued side is just tucked slightly underneath the unglued side. Then, lick thoroughly through the outer layer to hit the glue layer, sealing up the sides and leaving the end open.

Make sure you do the tucking and sealing along the length of the joint slowly and gently. To prevent smoking too much paper, you can burn off the excess after sealing it. You don’t want to seal it up too tight, as it will be very hard to draw in smoke and take a hit. If it’s rolled too loose, though, it will burn unevenly or too quickly.

STEP 6: PACK YOUR JOINT

To ensure a smooth and even burn, you should now pack the joint. Use the pen (or any other object that will do the trick) to carefully press down the cannabis through the open end. You can also put back in anything that fell out earlier, or simply save it for another time. While holding the joint upright from the filtered end, gently tap it on a flat surface to compact the cannabis and push the crutch in for reinforcement.

STEP 7: TWIST THE END OF YOUR JOINT

Seal the open end by twisting the extra paper so it resembles a candle wick. This way, there is no possibility for any weed to fall out. You can keep your joint stored away like this if you are not going to smoke it right away. Once you are ready to smoke, the twisted end will be your lighting point.

STEP 8: LIGHT AND ENJOY

At this point, you are ready to indulge in your smoke. Now there is nothing between you and the sweet cannabis you just rolled. All you have to do is light it and enjoy. Your joint tastes the best the first time it’s lit. Therefore, try to smoke it all at once and not relight it. Relighting is bad for the taste, and we want you to enjoy every single puff so you get the most from your buds.

STEP 9: SHARE YOUR JOINT

For an even better experience, share your joint with some friends. Not only will it prevent you from having to relight it later, but you will have the chance to really take in its aroma and effects while you are waiting in-between turns. Lastly, it’s just a lot more fun to enjoy the high with your mates. Good times ahead!

Joints are one of the most popular ways to consume cannabis. There are several different types of joints in the world of weed, and a variety of methods to make them. Rolling a joint can be a highly personal, intricate craft, but with a few simple steps, any new toker can roll their very own. Read on to learn about the art of rolling a joint.

What is a joint?

A joint is a cannabis cigarette often hand-rolled by an individual. Some dispensaries offer prerolls, or joints rolled in-shop, for consumers to purchase, saving a few steps. A cannabis joint that includes both cannabis and tobacco is called a spliff, while a blunt is a joint rolled with heavy, dark, tobacco papers.

What you need to roll a joint

To roll a joint, you’ll need to assemble a handful of essential materials. First, select your favorite cannabis strain and set aside the amount of flower you want to smoke, typically about a third of a gram. Use a grinder to break apart your bud evenly. A rolling tray will help you keep your workspace neat and tidy.

Round up your joint paper of choice. Dispensaries and smoke shops offer hemp, unbleached paper, and other materials to fit various preferences. Grab a filter, also called a crutch, or a thick piece of paper to create one, and you’ve got everything you need to roll a joint. If you don’t have a glass crutch handy, it’s easy to make a crutch on your own.

How to roll a joint

Step 1: Grind the cannabis

Use a grinder to grind up and separate the flower evenly. A grinder produces a consistent size and texture, which provides a smoother, more even smoke. If you don’t have a grinder, pick the bud apart with your fingers. Make the pieces more or less the same small size and work gently to minimize damage to the cannabis’ trichomes.

Step 2: Make a crutch

Many smoke shops sell pre-made crutches to serve as the mouthpiece of a joint. While crutches aren’t essential, they help reinforce the mouthpiece and make a joint easier to hold. Crutches also boost the airflow through a joint and minimize the risk of burning your lips or inhaling tiny bits of marijuana during a hit.

To make a crutch, fold a piece of thick paper or cardstock into an accordion shape then wrap the last bit of paper around the accordion part. Photo by: Gina Coleman/Weedmaps

To make a crutch, grab a piece of thick paper or cardstock and rip off a rectangle-shaped strip about the width of your joint’s mouthpiece. Fold most of the paper into an accordion shape then wrap the last bit of paper around the accordion part.

Step 3: Load the joint

Lay the rolling paper on the tray with the adhesive side facing away from you. Position the crutch where you want the mouthpiece to be and sprinkle marijuana onto the paper. Evenly spread the flower throughout the joint and avoid overstuffing it.

To roll a cone joint, sprinkle less weed near the mouthpiece and more towards the tip, tapering as you move.

Step 4: Roll the joint

It’s finally time to get rolling. Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the paper into a taco shape, sifting the paper back and forth to distribute the bud evenly. It’s okay if some flower falls out,you can stuff it in later. Work the weed into a cylinder shape, not so loose that it burns unevenly and not so tight that it restricts airflow.

Tuck one side of the rolling paper into the joint and slowly roll it back towards the adhesive side, tucking in the bud as you go. Lick or wet the sticky adhesive and start at the mouthpiece end to slowly seal the joint.

Why do people like joints?

Cannabis consumers love joints for a wide variety of reasons. For many, joints serve as the entry point into the cannabis world and smoking. Some like the way terpenes smell as the joint smoke spirals into the air. Others appreciate the fact you only need to spark up once to enjoy a joint, compared to the constant lighting of a pipe or the heavy-duty torching that dabs require.

Joints are also highly mobile, easy to share in a group setting, and easy to store if you want to smoke some and save the rest for a later day. According to an analysis by the RAND Corporation, an average joint fits about 0.32 grams of weed, making it a potent cannabis experience for an individual or enough for everyone when shared in a session. When completed, there’s little to clean up except for the roach and some ash.

Many joint rollers find the process of crafting joints therapeutic and consider the ritual an essential part of their consumption process.

Why do people hate joints?

Joints aren’t the most efficient way of consuming weed, and many users choose other methods to stretch their budget and maximize the experience of their bud. If you don’t smoke a joint fast, the flame on the tip will burn off precious trichomes and terpenes. Joints aren’t the best choice for marijuana consumers seeking a leisurely, lengthy smoking session.

The Original Six Shooter Pipe

High Tech PRESSES

The ORIGINAL, World Famous and Patented Six Shooter Pipe.

In 1999, the movie business slowed down and Jake Lee, the CEO and designer of High Tech Presses and Pipes, invented and began to market the Original Six Shooter Pipe, which was a revolutionary pipe he created in the machine shop at Jim Henson’s creature shop. He decided that this was the perfect time and his chance to offer the greatest invention in pipes smoking since smoking began!

What he had created in the Six Shooter Revolver Pipe was a tobacco pipe with six chambers that spins around like a gun revolver. The idea behind the six chambers is to make it so the need to constantly refill your pipe is eliminated. You’ll always have a fresh bowl on hand and at the ready with six bowls in the
pipe instead of just one, which is all you get with the classic, common, standard pipes.

Lee received a U.S. patent on the invention and built a business around it. With no experience in marketing or small business, he sold 10,000 units and won several awards overseas, garnering much attention here in the United States as well. In fact, this revolver pipe has been such a hit that you can visit the original pipe at the Musee du Fumeurin Paris, France.

Add the Patented Six Shooter Revolver Pipe to Your Collection

Sometimes known as shooter revolver pipes, grinder six shooter pipes, stealth pipes, the six metal pipe, or the classic revolver pipe, the Six Shooter pipe is perfect for use with your favorite herb grinders. If you normally use rolling papers and another type of tobacco pipes for smoking, you’ll love the original Six Shooter Revolver Pipe. You may already have hand pipes that are metal, and you may already have glass bongs, wood pipes, vaporizers, bubblers, and hookah pens – but if you don’t have the Original Six Shooter Pipe, your collection isn’t complete.

The original Revolver Pipe is made in the USA using only the finest materials! Machined from high-quality aircraft aluminum, naval brass, and stainless steel, the Six Shooter Pipe is hands down the best pipe you could own. Why settle for sub-par quality and cheap materials when it comes to something that is as important as your tobacco pipe?

For that matter, why settle for any pipe with just one bowl in it? Load 1-6 bowls at a time! The Six Shooter Pipe comes with a velvet pouch for storage and a tool for easy disassembly so cleaning is easy and fast. The unit features one recessed screen port that serves all six bowls. The Six Shooter Pipe is incredibly easy to clean and does not get hot when smoking. This is a must-have pipe for any collection.

laredo cigarette rolling machine

How to Use a Laredo Cigarette Rolling Machine

Welding Machine Checklist

The Laredo rolling machine is a small plastic device used to make rolled cigarettes. It was first manufactured by American tobacco giant Bron and Williamson in 1968. The machine uses an injection system, which neatly pre-rolls loose tobacco and a filter before covering them with cigarette paper. The machine became popular with Americans because it was more cost effective than buying ready-made cigarettes, and it allowed smokers to create their own custom cigarettes by using different blends of loose tobacco. Today, an original Laredo rolling machine is a rare commodity.

Place the machine on a steady surface, with the white handle facing toward you and the tobacco chamber facing upward.

Lift the latch on the top of the machine, to open the filter and tobacco chambers.

Push the white handle in, so it slots inside the machine. Place the cigarette paper (filter end first), into the metal tube on the right side of the machine.

Drop the cigarette filter into the filter chamber, located to the right of the tobacco chamber. Crumble loose tobacco evenly in the main tobacco chamber, until it is approximately half full. Shut the latch, to close the filter and tobacco chambers.

In a continuous motion, slide the white plastic handle to the furthest position on the right of the machine, and then slide it back to its original position. Slide the handle to the middle of the rolling machine, and the finished cigarette will fall out of the metal spout.

Cut excess tobacco from the cigarette using scissors, to create a neater, more professional finish.

The machine became …

Swapping your Boost Nail
Unscrew Nail: Turn counterclockwise to unscrew nail, then lift nail to remove.
Lower nail and rotate clockwise to screw nail onto eRIG™.
*WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE NAIL WHEN HOT. DO NOT TOUCH CERAMIC ROD AS IT MAY DAMAGE HEATING ELEMENT.

Boost Glass Removal
Between your index finger and your thumb, firmly hold the base of the glass unit AS WELL AS the glass ring that attaches to the device, then push down with caution until the attachment is flush with the lip of the Boost unit.

Do not hold from base alone (water chamber) as the joint may break when attaching the glass. Remove glass with a straight up and down motion. Try not to twist. Hold the glass attachment by the connection port.

Cleaning your Glass attachment
To clean glass attachment, first remove the glass attachment from the eRig, then slowly pour 99% isopropyl alcohol into the mouthpiece until the unit is about 1/4 full.

Shake the attachment gently until clean. To rinse out the alcohol, pour water into the top (mouthpiece) until all alcohol is flushed out of the bottom of the attachment.

To remove all water from device, blow through mouthpiece and shake gently.

Charging your boost
Insert the Micro USB charger into the side of the Boost, then insert the other side of the charger into a USB port or AC adapter.

The power button shows a purple light when the device is being charged. A green light indicates charging is complete. Due to the size of the battery, it is recommended to charge 6-8 hours or overnight on an AC adapter to charge fully.

Try to remove the charging cord as soon as the unit is fully charged, as the cord will not stop the trickle down effect, meaning it will slowly start to lose power over time after a full charge, while plugged in. You can always just unplug and plug the unit back in to check if it needs a few more minutes for a full charge.

Please, be advised our charger for the Boost will charge the battery to about 20 to 30 cycles. If you use an external 18650 battery charger, you will get an approximately 50 cycles. This happens for all USB chargers. They do not put out enough amps to get the battery to its full performance. We use these chargers for the convenience it provides with today’s technology.

How to use your Boost
1. Load Water (Remove glass before loading)
2. Click button * 3 times for titanium nail * 5 times for ceramic nail
3. Load product on tip of tool
4. Touch tip of the tool to nail once light changes color, then begin to inhale through glass mouthpiece.
5. Once all product has melted off of tool, flip tool around and place carb cap on top of the nail to increase vapor density.(Generally 3-4 seconds)

Is there a warranty on my boost
Unfortunately, we no longer carry or cover this model of Boost unit under our warranty. Check out our new model, the Boost: Black Edition.

Dr. Dabber Switch Vaporizer Quickstart Guide

Follow along with this Quickstart guide to get going with your Dr. Dabber Switch!

The Dr. Dabber Switch vaporizer may intimidate first-time users and newcomers alike. Luckily, this quickstart guide will cover all of the basics to get you going with your new dab rig!

Dr Dabber Switch Quickstart: What’s in the box

  • Dr. Dabber Switch Vaporizer
  • Battery Pack
  • Glass Percolator Attachment
  • White Ceramic Induction Cup (Oil)
  • Black Ceramic Induction Cup (Leaf)
  • Ceramic Leaf Filter Cap
  • Glass Loading Tool & Carb Accessory
  • Reverse Action Tweezers
  • Silicone Storage Container
  • Charging Cable and Adapter
  • Instruction Manual

Charge it

To start off, let’s top off your Dr. Dabber Switch with a full charge. Grab the included power adapter and plug it into your Switch, and into a power source. Leave it plugged in until the red light on the power adapter turns from red to green, indicating a full charge. Flip the power switch to any mode and the Switch’s light band will light up to indicate its current charge.

Fill the bubbler

Before we put the Switch together, let’s fill the bubbler with water. Pour water into the mouthpiece, until it fills just past the percolator holes. Don’t fill it too much higher than the percolator or you’ll get water in your mouth. Connect the bubbler to the top of your Switch and give it a few test pulls to make sure it’s filled to your liking.

More water than this and you might get your lips wet!

Test run

Let’s make sure your Switch is in working order before we load it up with concentrates. Flip the power switch to the left, or into oil mode, and look for the yellow LED light band to turn on. Use the + button to raise the temperature to its highest level (five yellow lights). With the reverse tweezers, load an empty induction cup into the bottom of the well. Press the center “Go” button and let it run a full cycle. Notice how the top lights are Red when heating up, and turn Green when it’s ready to hit.

Oil: Choose your temp

With the power switch turned to oil mode, use the + – buttons to choose your desired temperature. Level One is best for maximum flavor, while Level Five is best for maximum vapor density. For this first session, try the middle temperature, or the third yellow light.

Load your cup

The Switch can be heated up first, and then loaded, just like a traditional torch and banger, but we’ll preload it first for this initial session. Take the ceramic cup out of the Switch with the reverse tweezers, and load it with a rice-grain sized amount of your chosen concentrate. Use the tweezers to place the cup into the bottom of the glass well, put the carb cap on top, and get ready for take off.

This load was on the bigger side. Took two sessions to finish off.

Fire it up

Once you’re ready for your first hit, press the “Go” button to engage the heater. The LED light band will turn red and escalate to indicate that it’s heating. It will turn green when it’s ready to go. The Switch’s unmatched heat up time will have it ready within seconds, so be ready! Once the lights turn green, you’ll have 15 seconds to hit it until the heater shuts off. Press the Go button anytime before then to manually end the session.

Advanced mode

This Quickstart Guide is meant to quickly get you up and running with your first dab. Once you’re ready for more than the stock five temperatures, it’s time to play with Advanced mode. While the Switch is off, hold in the Go button and flip the toggle button to oil mode. The lights will turn multi-colored if you did it correctly. Now you have 25 temperature settings, from 300° F to 800° F (148° C – 426° C) in 20 degree increments!

For dry herbs

We didn’t cover Leaf mode for the Switch because we don’t consider it a dry herb vaporizer. It’s more of an herbal smoker that gently heats your herbs, producing a light vapor at first that quickly gives way to smokiness. We highly recommend a dry herb vaporizer for your loose leaf herbs.

Cleanup

The Switch makes cleaning an absolute breeze with its self cleaning mode. Press and hold the + button until it reaches the highest level and continue holding for five more seconds. Release the button once the lights turn Red, and let it run its full cycle. Easy as that!

The Dr. Dabber Switch vaporizer may intimidate first-time users and newcomers alike. Luckily, this quickstart guide will cover all of the basics to get you going with your new dab rig!
