Finding the Color Gear You Need

Basically every model of catchers gear being sold today has the “standard” colors available.

You know, colors like gray, black, and even blue.

Yet many times, catchers need gear that match the color of their team.

And many teams have colors that aren’t the standard gray, black and blue that we just mentioned!

Understandably, this leads many players and parents to look for specific colors of catcher’s gear.

And it’s not always easy to find the color you need.

That’s why we wrote this – to help our readers by making it simple to find the different catcher’s gear color options available.

How We Selected Our Picks

We canvassed the market to identify NOCSAE-approved gear that is being manufactured in different colors, then organized those selections based on available colors.

In this post you will see our “preferred pick” followed by a “runner up” pick by color, as well as a list of other options for each color.

Our preferred and runner up picks typically follow picks you will find in our “best of” posts on the site, meaning they were chosen based on a combination of safety, cost, and quality.

We’d encourage you to read more of our posts to get a better understanding of the pro’s and con’s of specific models mentioned in this post.

Also, our picks below show the complete catcher’s gear set – meaning, it contains a catcher’s helmet, chest protector and leg guards.

Many times people look for a specific color of chest protector or helmet, for example, while keeping the other pieces of their gear a standard black, blue or gray. We get that.

If you don’t need a complete set, then we suggest using our picks as a starting point to understand which models contain the color you need, then finding the specific piece of equipment you need from there.

Secondary Colors of Catcher’s Gear

When we refer to “Secondary Colors”, we are talking about any colors that aren’t the black, gray and blue mentioned above. These are common colors sold in practically every catcher’s gear model on the market.

Keep reading to see our recommendations and other available options organized by the color of gear.

Red Catcher’s Gear

For Baseball catchers, our top choice for red catcher’s gear is the All Star System7 Axis Pro set. This is the top of the line model from All-Star, and a perennial front runner in many of our “best of” posts. Also, All Star has an excellent reputation for making quality goods, and their gear is used by many in the NCAA ranks and above.

Our runner-up choice for Baseball catcher’s gear that comes in red is the Easton Elite X set. Elite X gear is high-quality and comfortable, and it’s actually more affordable than Eason’s Pro X lineup.

For Fastpitch Softball catchers, our top pick for red gear is Jen Schro’s The Very Best . This unique and durable gear is Easton’s newest offering for Softball catchers. The gear was engineered specifically for females and is premium level in every sense of the word.

All Star’s Vela Pro set (two-tone) is our runner up choice for Fastpitch players needing red catchers gear. Its chest protector and leg guards are lightweight yet provide excellent protection. Also, its classic System 7, ABS-shell helmet is one of the toughest and most popular catcher’s helmets in use today.

There are many red catcher’s gear sets on the market, and other available options include the following :
