Hey Taco, I wish cooking cubes made them inert, I'd eat em everyday.. I really enjoy fresh caps grilled with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt & pepper, but I trip out every time.

I agree some of the active compounds probably get broken down but I think it's negligible and there is more than enough actives left over to get your wave on. I bet you could fully boil em' for an hour and still get high. Even made a thread asking about a method to make em inert, RR himself said there is no way other than isolating a non-potent strain. If you do your research you'll find that absolutely nobody grills or cooks with shrooms, even when they're dried. Looking for a proper reference or citation before posting will usually keep you from putting your foot so deeply into your mouth. I have never seen any thermal decomposition data other than the fact the psilocybin dephosphorylates into psilocin at gas chromatograph injection temps.

Short of vaporizing or combustion there is probably no specific thermal decomposition temp. But once completely dry the psilocybe because stable and can withstand heat up to 800 degrees f and more befor breaking down. And that why you are able to make tea, grill them, and cook with them. The most they can withstand even after being dried is about 200°-250°F before the actives will break down. If you do your research you'll find that absolutely nobody grills or cooks with shrooms, even when they're dried. You can make tea with them because you don't boil the water, you simmer it. Water boils at 242°F, so obviously boiling would be overkill. Simmer temp is about 180°-200°F and once cooled a little the mushrooms are gradually mixed in and allowed to steep for about 10-20 minutes before draining. Nobody cooks with shrooms, and certainly no one bakes with them. Brownies are pretty much out of the question unless you just stuffed the mushrooms inside of them like butter inside a roll after baking them. Refer to this page for mostly tried and true ways for preparing mushrooms. water boils at 212f, 242 would be water boiling under pressure probably around 14 psi. Anyway i dunno what temps break down the actives, but i know from personal experience that simmering shrooms in simmering water for 10-15 minutes does not have any effect. yes i actually simmer then in water infact almost boil for 15 minutes. I make tea while the water is still being heated and almost boiling. Also RR in the past has said that people make pizzas with them or BBQ them with no effect on potency (i have not tried this though) Welcome to Etsy!
